Re: WFT, it keeps changing!
I was hoping to have a speshul done for today, but alas, sod, and his darn laws has put the brakes on that. I should have managed to iron out the problems with it, so it qill be ready for tomorrow though, so watch out for it, it's gonna be the best one yet!

Your telling me. I got a legit looking popup on this site whilst browsing it, clicked on it, and boom, spyware. Fuck. It was one click, no chance to back out.we_just_dinged_em wrote:apparently our theme got hacked, and as its all on photobucket or smth we got trolled, hard.

Fortunately I got some talented friends in I.T and have set them to work on it (its a very sophisticated spyware program). This is the issues I was having last night before I set up the company. Essentially my internet was plastered with adverts and dodgy "you won!" messages. I had to kind of do some adhoc damage control before I could play the game.
Just a heads up to anyone viewing anything other than WJDE content on this site.

Re: WFT, it keeps changing!
Righty ho, here we go.
I've done some digging, and what actually happened, was the theme that we were running, was a template created by a third party, and offered for use by pro-forums (our host), and it's users.
So essentially, I look at a list of the available themes, chose the one I want to use, and have it installed to our BB. I can then make adjustments to it to fit in with what we need.
What I wasn't aware of at the time (but I can assure you I am now), is that pro-forums didn't actually host the theme images themselves, and instead, used photobucket. Unfortunatelly, photobucket has a restricted bandwidth policy for images hosted there. The theme we used, was no doubt used by many other clans/guilds/groups and hit the bandwidth limit, which is what created all those annoying photobucket boxes.
This leaves us with 3 options.
1. We can select another theme to adapt and use, but face the possibility that this may occur again, if it is a popular theme.
2. We can use the standard "prosilver" base theme that is packaged with phpBB3, and adapt it to our own desired colours (much like the one you currently see). This could take some time, as the base phpBB3 interface is, to be frank, shite. But I am happy to plod along and work on it until it's in a workable state for release.
3. We can purchase a hosting package that includes phpBB3, and an SQL database, and install everything we need to run the forum, and loads of other cute addons, without worrying about hitting bandwidth limits.
I'm quite happy to do the first two, whichever we think is best ( I will consult with the Guv'ner in a short while to sort it out). The third option would mean a financial investment for continued use.
Should the third option actually be viable, I will look into the possibility of installing TS on the site, which if possible, would give us an infinate number of user slots, removing the need for any further outlay for voice comms.
Bit heavy reading I know, but best to keep folks updated and informed.
TTFN,
Skud.

@Skuda
The first two options seem like half-measures, the first being quick and easy but prone to fail in time, the second being time-consuming and possibly (not doubting your abilities) a waste of time.
The third option, is however, by my understanding, one that would cost some money, but that would be more profitable in the long run. I understand it could also adress our TS issue? Should we chose the third one, I am happy to contribute to the financial part of the thing, as it does seem to me that we would be better off with the third one, as it would require less constant attention.
